Plant Maintenance conference begins Monday

By Nathan Dukes

The Gold Coast will next week host the Mastering SAP Plant Maintenance conference.

Designed for Plant Maintenance professionals, with a program created by industry itself, the conference is expected to draw a strong attendance.

This year’s event comprises 37 presentations over 2 days, including interactive workshops, preconference ‘jumpstart sessions’ and a partner solutions showcase.

The event also has a heavy international presence, with 11 international presentations from America, Canada, the UK and New Zealand.

One international presentation will be made by Paul Kurchina, Board Member of the Americas’ SAP User group and Director of KurMeta group, Canada.

Paul will draw on his experiences as an American SAP User Group board member, and chairperson of a number of ASUG Special Interest Groups, including plant maintenance and enterprise architecture.

In his presentation to the conference, Paul will discuss the present and the future of Enterprise Asset management (EAM).

Paul will present information from a recent benchmarking study on EAM conducted by SAP and ASUG.

“That is really to get an assessment of where an organisation is at from the EAM perspective, and to look at their peers and some key learnings based on their participation in the survey, to determine what they can do improve their performance,” Paul said.

Looking into the future of Asset Management, Paul will discuss new technologies that are influencing the asset management market, and will provide examples on what other companies are doing.

“Particularly in this economy, people have to drive more out of their assets. They want to sweat their assets. And the better the information they have around the state of that asset will help companies extract more value”.

Paul will make his presentation in a preconference JumpStart Session on Sunday evening. He will also be returning to Australia for the SAP technologies conference in March next year.

Other keynotes speakers include Len Harms, Executive Solution Advisor for SAP America; Phil Awtry, Business Analyst for Nebraska Public Power District; amongst others.

Well respected media personality and Australian Rugby player Peter FitzSimons will also make a guest keynote presentation.

The conference starts next Monday at Hotel Conrad, on the Gold Coast.
