With growing attention on security, data sent by Internet of Things-enabled devices has not escaped scrutiny, and it is this link in the chain that is the focus of a new collaboration between Swiss cybersecurity company WISeKey and SAP.

Allowing the integration of WISeKey’s Managed Cryptographic Root of Trust secure IoT Edge Device with devices leveraging SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the Internet of Things (IoT), the collaboration will provide increased security when connecting to SAP solutions.

Gil Perez, SVP digital asset and IoT, general manager IoT security, SAP SE, said that securing data communications from edge devices to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the IoT and SAP solutions for the IoT is a prerequisite for any bidirectional enterprise IoT use case.

“By working with WISeKey, we are continuing to offer our customers options for ensuring the validity and scalability of sensor data powering SAP IoT platform and solutions,” said Perez.

WISeKey is currently using its Managed Cryptographic Root of Trust and NFCTrusted technology to integrate watches and wearable technology with secure authentication and identification, allowing them to be used as secure transactional devices.

Operating systems and applications recognise the Managed WISeKey Root of Trust to ensure the authenticity and integrity of online transactions, and IoT product manufacturers can use code-signing certificates and a cloud-based signature-as-a-service to secure interactions among and between objects and people.
