Fujitsu Announces Technology plans for 2010

Fujitsu ANZ is set to consolidate its position as the third largest ICT firm in Australia and New Zealand with key product launches and business growth plans for 2010.

The company will leverage the integration of two key acquisitions as well as success with major account wins in 2009.

Rod Vawdrey, Chief Executive Officer, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said Fujitsu will enter 2010 in a strong position following the success of last year.

“Our expanded capabilities and scale as an organisation coupled with new technology investments enable us to create better value for existing and future customers,” he said.

“With a new organisational structure incorporating KAZ and Supply Chain firmly in place, Fujitsu’s technology investment in 2010 will focus on the launch of cloud computing solutions in the local market; strengthened End User Computing offerings; expansion of Data Centres of excellence; and continued commitment to sustainability across all offerings.”

The acquisition of Supply Chain Consulting was a huge boost for Fujitsu’s SAP practice in Australia and South East Asia.

In related news, Zdnet.com.au today reports that Fujitsu will drop the ‘Supply Chain’ branding, and visually the company will only be Fujitsu. Vawdrey told zdnet that keeping several brands would not have been viable.

With the addition of Supply Chain’s staff, Fujitsu Australia became one of the largest SAP consulting practices in Australia and New Zealand, comprising more than 600 SAP experts.

“We now have one of the strongest portfolios of SAP solutions, customers and capabilities in Australia, with the ability to deliver new opportunities for our business and greater value to customers and shareholders,” Mr Vawdrey said.

“It gives us the ability to offer customers unprecedented choice of services and capabilities in the mid-tier, and the scale to service larger enterprises, all from a single provider.”

Optimising the End User Computing (EUC) experience will be a key focus for Fujitsu in 2010, with developments, investment and innovation in technologies and support to enhance EUC, including virtualisation and unified communications.

Other plans include a heavy investment in the expansion of its Data Centres, including the construction of a new data centre in Perth, which Fujitsu claims will be the most ‘advanced, environmentally sustainable data centre’ in Australia.

Fujitsu will also develope flexible cloud computing offerings, namely an Infrastructure-as-a-Service offering, which includes a managed pool of servers and storage as an alternative to businesses owning IT infrastructure.
